Healthy Gelatin Gummies
Gluten, Dairy, Egg, Nut and Refined Sugar Free
A good quality gelatin added (not all gelatin is the same!!) to your diet has many benefits including: improving leaky gut, digestion, bone, skin, hair and nail health. There are many ways to include gelatin into your foods – these gummies are a great, easy way to start.
INGREDIENTS:
- 250g (1 cup) Juice – I’ve used an Organic Apple and Blackcurrant Juice (see notes)
- 1 tablespoon honey (opt)
- 2 Heaped Tbl Gelatin Powder
THERMOMIX METHOD:
- Place all ingredients into thermomix bowl 2 mins/50 degrees/speed 3 (after this time, check the bowl to make sure all the gelatin and honey have been well combined)
- Pour into silicone moulds and place into the fridge or freezer to set for 2 hours. (I find allowing gummies to set in the freezer makes it easier to remove from the silicone moulds)
- Remove from moulds and place into a sealed container in the fridge.
CONVENTIONAL METHOD:
- Pour juice and add gelatin into small saucepan onto the stove and allow to bloom for about 2 minutes.
- On low heat (don’t allow juice to come to boil as this will stop the gelatin from setting gently stire until gelatin has dissolved.
- Pour into silicone moulds and place into the fridge to set. (With some moulds allowing gummies to set in the freezer makes it easier to remove)
- Removed from moulds and place into a sealed container in the fridge.
NOTES:
- Always use a good quality Gelatin Powder I use Changing Habits Gelatin Powder
- Any homemade or store bought fruit or vegetable juice or puree can be used – but please note that pineapple, kiwi, mango, ginger root, papaya, figs or guava will not set
- I purchased my moulds from K-Mart for only $2!!
- I have found they do not ‘melt’ out of the fridge and will last in school lunchboxes well.
